It was not so simple to set up a Raspberry Pi as a 3D-print server as I had hoped. It started with issues with the WiFi-dongle, continued to a complete black out on all of my USB web cams and finally I gave up…
I reflashed the SD-card with the latest full Raspbian Jessie image, ran
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt-get upgrade
and then I followed the detailed description on Foosel’s wiki on github.
Now I still have to deal with regular disconnects of my rtl8188eu-based USB WiFi dongle, but I plan to try a different brand soon.
