Last week I saw a video on youtube by Dave Plummer, the author of the Windows Taskmanager. He had just released a new taskmanager software, not only for Windows, but also for MacOS and Linux.
At the same time I had noticed that my Windows 11, Ryzen 5300 laptop apparently had become slower with time – a notion which everyone always has with their computers.
But first with this new tool it was very easy to see that the processor quickly went up in temperature to about 90°C and was then throttled down by the system to a clock frequency of only about 1.5 GHz, instead of the advertised 2.7 GHz.
Today I finally cleaned the internal fan and air ducts with compressed air, and the first impression looks very promising. In spite of being under heavy intermittent load on all cores, the CPU is not throttle any more and the temperature still stays at comfortable 70°C.
